It’s time for us to start paying more attention to how our daily cup of joe is affecting our health. Did you know that conventional coffee has been found to be one of the most chemically treated crops? That’s right, the dirty dozen doesn’t tell you that one! When pesticides are used in growing the beans, we take all those chemicals into our bodies with every sip.
Organic coffee is high in antioxidants and great for your liver and brain function. The switch to clean coffee not only helps you be healthier, but also helps the farmers that are growing your daily brew. Many conventional coffee farmers don’t receive a living wage from the companies that they supply, but organic coffee farms are fair trade compliant. This means that farmers are paid for their hard work, so the money you spend goes straight to the people that deserve it.
When shopping for clean caffeine, make sure you see the USDA organic label. Also, look for the words “Fair Trade.” At RWM, all of our bulk aisle coffee is organic and fairly traded. Fun fact: if Americans switched from packaged coffee to bulk coffee, it would result in a decrease of nearly 240 million pounds of foil packaging waste. Shop the bulk aisle to save waste, save money, and save your body from chemicals in your morning brew!
