3 ways to practice mindfulness

The American Psychological Association defines mindfulness as, "awareness of one’s internal states and surroundings." In other words, it's all about being in the present moment.

Check out some of our favorite ways to be mindful:

Start the day screen-free

In our technology-driven world, it's easy to reach for your phone first thing in the morning. Instead, take some time for yourself to welcome in the new day by journaling or meditating.

Spend time outside

Getting direct sunlight is a natural way to get vitamin D and increase the brain's release of serotonin, which can help boost your mood. It's also a good way to connect with nature and yourself.

Yoga for mindful movement

Yoga is a great way to emphasize the mind-body connection for overall mindfulness. Join us on the Rosewood Market deck for free yoga every Wednesday 6-7 p.m. and 2-3 p.m. Sunday led by the instructors over at Rooted Yoga (located just down the street from us).
